How it works
Stage plot and input list generator: four moves to a venue-ready plot
The stage, the patch list and the mix matrix are one project. Change one and the others follow, with no Generate button.
- Load the closest line-upPick 5-piece rock, worship band, acoustic duo or funk horn band. The stage size, every input and the monitor mixes load at once.
- Place and move the gearTap a tile in the rig library to drop it, then drag, nudge with arrow keys, rotate 90° or label it with the musician’s name.
- Check the patch listEvery source becomes a numbered channel in FOH order with mic or DI, +48V, stand and Subsnake port. Edit any cell.
- Export what you needSave a watermarked proof PNG and an 8-channel TXT, or unlock the Tech Rider PDF, X32 / M32 scene and tour bundle.
The stage plot maker draws every tile at its real footprint: a 5-piece kit is 6 × 5 ft, a 4×10 bass rig 2 × 1.5 ft, a wedge 2 × 1.6 ft. That is why the canvas catches problems a sketch hides, like a keyboard rig that does not fit beside the riser.
Who uses it
Built for the advance, the changeover and the tour
- Bands advancing a club or livehouse show
- Send the plot and input list a week out. For the full theory, read how to make a stage plot venues can read.
- FOH engineers building the patch
- Start from typed sources in the audio input patch list generator and hand the band a plot that matches.
- X32 and M32 rooms
- Name, colour and phantom-power 32 channels before soundcheck with the X32 scene generator.
- Monitor engineers and in-ear bands
- Chart up to 8 wedge or IEM mixes in the monitor mix chart maker.
- Tour managers
- Assemble a 3-page rider in the tech rider template maker; see what goes in a live band technical rider PDF.
- Festival and multi-act stages
- Plan risers, power and stageboxes in the stage layout planner, or start from the four example plots.
Quick reference
FOH channel order for four line-ups
Engineers patch drums first and vocals late. These are the orders the studio produces for common line-ups.
| Line-up | Inputs | Channel order (Ch 1 → last) |
|---|---|---|
| 5-piece rock band | 16 | Kick In, Snare Top, Hi-Hat, Rack Tom, Floor Tom, OH L, OH R, Bass DI, Lead Gtr, Rhythm Gtr, Keys L, Keys R, Lead Vox, BV 1, BV 2, BV 3 |
| 4-piece jazz quartet | 12 | Kick, Snare, Ride, OH L, OH R, Upright DI, Upright Mic, Piano Lo, Piano Hi, Tenor Sax, Lead Vox, MC |
| Unplugged duo | 6 | Cajon Front, Cajon Back, Acoustic Gtr DI, Ac Gtr Mic, Lead Vox, BV |
| Worship band | 20 | Kick In, Kick Out, Snare Top, Hi-Hat, Rack Tom, Floor Tom, OH L, OH R, Bass DI, Gtr L, Gtr R, Keys L, Keys R, Lead Vox, BV 1, BV 2, Tracks L, Tracks R, Click, MD Talkback |
The groups always run in the same sequence. New sources join the end of their group, and every later channel renumbers.

Mic, DI and +48V cheat sheet
The defaults the input list uses when you place a tile or type a source. Swap any of them per channel.
| Source | Default mic / DI | +48V |
|---|---|---|
| Kick inside | Shure Beta 91A | +48V |
| Kick outside / resonant head | Shure Beta 52A | no |
| Snare top / bottom | Shure SM57 | no |
| Hi-hat | Shure SM81 | +48V |
| Toms | Sennheiser e604 | no |
| Overheads | AKG C414 / Neumann KM184 | +48V |
| Electric guitar cab | Shure SM57 / Sennheiser e906 | no |
| Bass DI | Radial J48 Active DI | +48V |
| Bass DI (passive) | Radial JDI | no |
| Acoustic guitar | Radial J48 Active DI | +48V |
| Stereo keys | Radial ProD2 Stereo DI | no |
| Grand piano | Neumann KM184 pair | +48V |
| Trumpet / trombone | Sennheiser MD 421 | no |
| Sax / strings | DPA 4099 clip-on | +48V |
| Vocals | Shure SM58 / Beta 58A | no |
| Condenser vocal | Shure KSM9 | +48V |
| Wireless handheld receiver | Shure SLXD24/B58 | no (line out) |
| Kemper / Helix XLR out | direct | no |
Phantom power warnings never block you. Turn +48V off on an active DI and the row reads “needs +48V (or a battery)”; turn it on for a Helix output or a wireless receiver and it asks you to check first.

X32 / M32 scribble strip colour codes
The scene file writes one colour token per channel. Groups get these by default.
| Token | Colour | Used for |
|---|---|---|
| OFF | black / unlit | unused |
| RD | red | Drums & Percussion |
| YE | yellow | Bass |
| GN | green | Guitars |
| BL | blue | Keys |
| MG | magenta | Horns & Strings |
| CY | cyan | Vocals |
| WH | white | Playback, click, talkback, monitor buses |
| RDi … WHi | inverted versions | optional per-channel override |
Names are cut to 12 characters, exactly as the console shows them. The Pro preview strip shows the same truncation live, so “Kick Drum Inside” appears as “Kick Drum In” before you ever touch the desk.
FAQ
Questions musicians and engineers ask
What is a stage plot and who reads it?
A stage plot is a top-down drawing of where every musician, amp, mic, monitor and power drop sits, with the audience at the bottom. The house engineer, the monitor engineer and the stage crew read it before load-in to pre-patch cables, set wedges and run power, so a 20-minute changeover does not turn into 40.
Stage plot vs input list vs tech rider — what is the difference?
The stage plot shows positions. The input list is the numbered channel sheet: source, mic or DI, +48V, stand and stagebox port. The tech rider wraps both with contacts, backline, soundcheck times and hospitality. Here the plot drives the list automatically, and the 3-page rider PDF puts all three in one file.
How many channels does a band need?
Count one input per mic or DI. An acoustic duo needs about 6, a 5-piece rock band 16, a worship team with tracks and click about 20, and a horn band with percussion 24. Small club consoles often have 16 inputs, so check the venue spec before you promise a 24-channel show.
Which inputs need +48V phantom power?
Condenser mics (Shure Beta 91A, SM81, KSM9, AKG C414, Neumann KM184, DPA 4099) and active DI boxes such as the Radial J48 need +48V. Dynamic mics like the SM57 and SM58 and passive DIs do not care. Modeler XLR outputs, wireless receivers and ribbon mics should not get it; the list warns you.
How does the X32 / M32 scene load from USB, and what does it change?
Copy the .scn file to a FAT32 USB stick, plug it into the console, open SCENES, press UTILITY and import it into an empty slot, then load it. It writes 32 channel names, scribble colours, icons, +48V on local inputs 1–32 and mix bus names. Gain stays at +0.0 dB; EQ, dynamics and FX are untouched.
Wedges or in-ear monitors — how do stereo IEM bus pairs work?
A wedge or mono IEM uses one mix bus. A stereo in-ear mix needs a linked odd/even pair (1–2, 3–4 …), so four stereo IEMs use buses 1–8. The matrix shows the bus label for every mix and shifts later mixes when you switch one to stereo. An X32 has 16 mix buses in total.
Feet or meters — how is scale shown?
Pick ft or m in the ribbon. The canvas has rulers on the top and left edges and every tile is drawn at its real footprint, so a 5-piece kit is 6 × 5 ft and a wedge 2 × 1.6 ft. Switching units converts the stage size, rulers and positions; a 40 × 24 ft festival stage reads 12.19 × 7.32 m.
What do the free proof PNG and TXT include?
The proof is a 1000 px PNG of the stage with a tiled STAGE PROOF watermark and the banner “STAGE PROOF ONLY — NOT FOR VENUE SUBMISSION”. The TXT lists channels 1–8 with source, mic or DI and +48V. Both are made in your browser, so you can check the layout with the band before sending anything.
What does the $4.99 7-day pass unlock, and does it renew?
The 7-Day Gig & Tour Pass unlocks every Pro export for seven days: the Tech Rider PDF, the X32 / M32 scene with 1:1 SVG and CSV lists, and the tour print bundle. It is a one-time payment and does not renew. Monthly ($7.99) and lifetime ($19.99) options are on the pricing page.
Is my project stored on your server?
Your project lives in this browser (autosave) and in any .json file you save. Paid exports send the design data to this site, the file is built in memory and returned, and the request is discarded. Your logo and contacts only travel inside a PDF export request. There is no account and no cloud project storage.
