How it works

Fill the header, the rider writes itself

Stage plot and input list come from the studio; you add the words only the band knows.

  1. Header and contactsBand name, show date, venue, and up to three contacts such as band leader, FOH engineer and tour manager.
  2. LogoDrop a PNG or JPEG up to 5 MB; it is scaled to 600 × 300 px in the browser and shown in the preview header.
  3. Backline, soundcheck, hospitalityStart from the template text and edit what you bring, when you load in and what you need backstage.
  4. Check the 3 pages and exportThe preview updates with every edit; the PDF is US Letter or A4 landscape, no watermark.

When to use it

Who sends a tech rider

Bands booking their first club tour
One file answers the venue’s questions. Read the page-by-page rider guide first.
Bands with a changing line-up
Save each line-up in the stage layout planner and send the right rider per show.
Engineers advancing for the band
Check page 2 against the input list and the monitor mixes; draw page 1 in the stage plot maker.
X32 and M32 venues
Add the X32 scene to the advance; see how to draw the plot and four finished examples.

The template

What each page of the rider holds

Three landscape pages, always: even a 32-input horn band fits its input sheet on page 2.

PageTitleContentsWho reads it

2Input list + mixesOne row per channel: Ch, source, mic / DI, alternate, +48V badge, stand, Subsnake port, then one L / M / H column per monitor mix. Up to 32 rows on one page.FOH and monitor engineers

Copy and edit

Template text for backline, soundcheck and hospitality

These are the defaults in the form. Replace the details with your own; keep the structure.

Backline

Band brings: all instruments, pedalboards, IEM packs and DI boxes listed on the input sheet. Venue provides: drum riser, FOH and monitor console, one wedge per monitor mix, mic stands and XLR cables per input list, and the AC drops marked on the stage plot.

Soundcheck

Load-in 90 min before doors; line check 30 min; full soundcheck 45 min. Please have all inputs patched per the input list and +48V set per channel before the band arrives.

Hospitality

Still water on stage for each musician, a secure green room, towels for the drummer, and parking for one van.

Be concrete: “2 × guitar amps provided by band, venue provides 4 boom stands” beats “standard backline”. Name the person who decides on the day, with a phone number that works on show day.

Sending it

When and how to send the rider

A rider that arrives the morning of the show is a rider nobody read.

  • 7 days out: send rider, plot and input list with the advance email.
  • 48 hours out: resend if anything changed — line-up, inputs, mixes, power.
  • Ask for confirmation: console model, number of monitor mixes, power at each position.
  • Print two copies: one for FOH, one taped side-stage.

File naming

FileName pattern

Scene & CAD packsample-showcase-band-x32-scene-pack.zip
Tour bundlesample-showcase-band-tour-print-bundle.zip

File names use the band name in lower case with hyphens, up to 40 characters, so “Sample Showcase Band” becomes sample-showcase-band. Venues search their inbox for the band name.

FAQ

Questions musicians and engineers ask

What goes on each of the three pages?

Page 1 is the scaled stage plot with the band header, contacts, item and power legend and a scale bar. Page 2 is the full input list with +48V badges, stands, Subsnake ports and one need column per monitor mix. Page 3 holds backline, soundcheck and hospitality, plus a signal and power summary.

Letter or A4?

Choose US Letter (792 × 612 pt landscape) for North American venues and A4 (842 × 595 pt) for most other countries. The layout is the same; the scale on page 1 adjusts so the whole stage fits.

Can I add my band logo?

Yes. Drop a PNG or JPEG up to 5 MB. It is decoded and scaled to at most 600 × 300 px in your browser and kept in the browser autosave. It only leaves the browser inside a paid PDF request, where it is drawn into the header and discarded.

When should I send the rider?

Send it with the advance, ideally 7 days ahead, and resend a final version 48 hours before the show if anything changed. Name the file with the band and date, for example sample-showcase-band-tech-rider.pdf, so the venue can find it.

Is the rider text saved?

The backline, soundcheck and hospitality text, contacts and logo are part of the project: they autosave in this browser and are included when you save the .json project file. The default text is a starting point; edit it to match what you actually bring.
